Preliminary Rounds 2027

The digital preliminary rounds of the Queen Sonja Singing Competition 2027 will present 40 selected singers from around the world in a curated digital format.

Instead of traditional live auditions, each singer will submit a verified performance recording made within a controlled recording window prior to the event. Recordings will be technically standardised, supervised remotely by a Competition representative, and prepared for presentation by the Competition’s production team.

The performances will be presented as online premieres 23-24 June, creating a structured viewing experience for the jury and international audience. These premieres will function as the official competition rounds, forming the basis for jury evaluation and selection for the subsequent stages of the Competition.

Recording Window

Participants record their performance within a designated time window prior to the preliminary rounds. A scheduled equipment test will be carried out for all participants.

Technical Standardisation

A clearly defined list of permitted equipment (camera, microphones, recording devices, etc.) and recording guidelines will ensure equal and comparable recording conditions for all participants. Different budget-level solutions may be proposed. Technical options can be tested in advance, leading to a detailed technical specification and practical recording guide for participants.
