An opportunity of a lifetime

The Queen Sonja International Music Competition is a leading high-level voice competition, which takes place every second year in Oslo with singers from all over the world. The main goal of the Competition is to assist the career development of talented young singers and offer a valuable kick-start to their careers.

In addition to the fact that the Competition’s participants are exposed to national and international representatives from the industry who may offer concert engagements, the Competition has since 2015 collaborated with international music institutions to host Opera Gala concerts where our prizewinners are engaged as soloists. Following the 2019 Competition, there will be an Opera Gala concert with QSIMC prizewinners in Bergen with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Evan Rogister.

The 2019 programme also includes rewarding masterclasses in stagecraft (with opera director Stefan Herheim) and vocal technique, and career advising with opera directors, agents, PR expertise, etc. QSIMC offers considerable cash prizes, prizewinner concerts and the possibility of other important concert engagements to our prizewinners. Several previous participants can document a significant career development and international recognition following the Competition.
