Meet the participants of QSSC 2025!

22 countries will be represented in Queen Sonja Singing Competition this year.

The Queen Sonja Singing Competition (QSSC) is a prestigious biennial event attracting singers from all around the globe. The competition is highly selective. This year, we received applications from 500 singers from 57 nations. Every singer has been assessed by the international screening jury, comprised of opera directors and casting supervisors from several of the world’s leading opera houses.

Among the 40 participants, we find aspiring talents from leading opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera Covent Garden in London, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Berlin State Opera, the Dutch National Opera, and the Zurich Opera House.

This year, the competition is set to take place online 11-12 June and in Oslo, Norway from 14-22 August.

The preliminary rounds take place online (live) on June 11th and 12th, and will be live streamed to our YouTube channel. The semi-final takes place at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet (Second Stage) Sunday 17 August, and the grand finale will be held at Oslo Concert Hall on Friday 22 August. Here, the top six contestants will perform opera arias, accompanied by the Oslo Philharmonic and conducted by Nicholas Carter.
