Malene Skår

Voice: Soprano

Malene Skår is a 22 year old soprano from Alver, just outside Bergen, Norway. She is currently in her final year at the University of Stavanger, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in classical singing combined with practical pedagogical education. Her vocal teacher and professor is Bettina Smith.

Malene has always loved to sing, but never felt ready to take voice lessons as a child. At the age of 15, she was accepted into Kongshaug Music High School, where she began formal voice training for the first time. She quickly became familiar with classical music repertoire and developed a strong interest in the genre. During high school, she was accepted into the Grieg Academy’s Young Talents program and studied with Hilde Haraldsen from 2020 to 2021. Following that experience, she applied to university to continue pursuing her dream of becoming a classical singer.

During her studies in Stavanger, Malene has participated in several workshops with Voices of Women since 2022. She also took part in the project Exploring Art Song in Kokkola, Finland, and performed the operatic role of Dido in Dido and Aeneas
